O que faz um designer instrucional?
Então vamos lá, falando na prática: o que um designer instrucional faz?
Os designers instrucionais precisam possuir um conjunto de habilidades polímatas para criar cursos e materiais educacionais eficazes para atender aos objetivos pretendidos. Esses profissionais precisam não apenas ter domínio do design de aprendizagem, mas também da tecnologia.
Vou comentar aqui como se fosse uma sequência cronológica, já te preparando para as etapas da construção de um conteúdo educacional. Show?
Bom ressaltar que eu vou comentar todas as responsabilidades de um designer instrucional – assim como, por exemplo, podemos falar que um mecânico pode consertar de aviões a carros, nem sempre um DI tem que fazer tudo. Ele pode, certamente, se especializar em uma área ou outra, entrar num campo com maior ou menor profundidade. Por isso, a lista será o processo ideal, mas isso não significa que ele acontece na prática para todos os projetos.
Tudo começa com o planejamento, as reuniões de kickoff do projeto. Estes são essenciais para obter as informações de que você precisa e identificar as principais partes interessadas. Saber o máximo possível sobre um projeto, o que é necessário ou esperado e quem deve aprovar o produto final são partes críticas de um projeto de desenvolvimento de eLearning eficiente e eficaz.
As reuniões iniciais do projeto geralmente incluem você, um gerente de projeto, um responsável pela plataforma (isso se também não for o designer instrucional), o cliente ou parte interessada interna e um especialista no assunto. Este é o seu momento de definir o público-alvo, objetivos de aprendizado, requisitos técnicos e outros parâmetros do projeto Existem diretrizes específicas da marca a serem seguidas? E por aí vai.
Em seguida, caso seja um projeto mais complexo, como a criação de uma escola, academia ou sequência de conteúdos, será essencial que o designer instrucional transforme essas informações numa proposta pedagógica: um documento que reunirá as diretrizes da escola ou do projeto. Como o conteúdo será ensinado? Por quê? Como ele será formatado? Quais são as regras e restrições dos conteúdos? Pense como um documento guia de marca, usado em design gráfico, mas para educação. Esse documento será usado posteriormente como referências para todas as partes que terão atuação no projeto de alguma forma, como conteudistas, designers, desenvolvedores e por aí vai.
Após do kickoff, você pode estar pronto para iniciar o storyboard. O storyboard é uma ferramenta valiosa para planejar cursos eficazes e obter a adesão das partes interessadas. Esteja você trabalhando para uma empresa de desenvolvimento de soluções educacionais personalizadas ou criando treinamento corporativo para sua empresa, você terá um chefe, cliente ou parte interessada que precisa entender sua visão.
Storyboard pode ser feito de n maneiras. A mais comum é uma apresentação em slides contendo cada tela do seu conteúdo, uma esquematização visual de como ficará o material depois de pronto. Para designers instrucionais que trabalham em equipes maiores, o storyboard é uma maneira de todos os profissionais se alinharem, incluindo profissionais de animação, narração, desenvolvedores, etc.
Mostrar para os seus chefes um storyboard antes de passar para o desenvolvimento pode ajudar a evitar retrabalhos custosos se o curso desenvolvido não estiver alinhado com a visão ou as necessidades dos superiores.
Usando as informações recebidas em sua reunião inicial, você pode analisar os objetivos de aprendizado e dividi-los, slide por slide, para garantir que você esteja abordando todos os objetivos de aprendizado e criando uma progressão lógica do conteúdo. O storyboard também ajuda você a descobrir quais conteúdos, recursos e informações você ainda precisa antes de desenvolver o curso. É muito comum, ao longo da criação do storyboard, você perceber que tá faltando alguma informação.
Por penúltimo, temos o processo de desenvolvimento do conteúdo.
Você provavelmente trabalhará com um especialista no assunto para obter as informações necessárias para o curso que está criando. Eles podem enviar conteúdo na forma de apresentações do PowerPoint, gravações de tela que criaram, PDFs e/ou documentos do Word. Em algumas situações, se o tempo e o orçamento permitirem, você pode até ir ao local para entrevistar os especialistas ou alunos e observar os processos.
Os designers instrucionais devem ser bons em classificar e digerir o conteúdo para identificar as principais ideias e pontos-chave que os alunos precisam entender para fazer bem seu trabalho.
Não vou aqui encobrir os fatos – essa parte pode ser mais chatinha, porque pode envolver muito vai-e-volta, ainda mais se for um conteúdo muito técnico, fora do seu entendimento. Eu mesmo já tive que desenvolver, por exemplo, conteúdo para a área de saúde e de engenharia, que tinha muita coisa que foge da minha realidade.
Mas cabe a você transformar conteúdo técnico bruto em uma experiência gostosa de aprendizado, seja por meio de conteúdo interativo, vídeos animados ou outras estratégias instrucionais. É aqui que você pode realmente ser criativo e usar seu conhecimento de como as pessoas aprendem e como criar conteúdo que as atraia e impulsione a mudança de comportamento. Claro, o mais importante é você levar em conta quem é seu público. Afinal, o conteúdo pode ser difícil ou entediante pra você, mas para o público-alvo daquele material, pode ser a coisa mais fácil do mundo.
Então, o designer pode elaborar o conteúdo: desde escrever os textos, roteiros de gravação, criar apresentações, ebooks, captar e editar aulas, criar materiais interativos, quizzes, etc. Claro, cada material desses exige um set de habilidades específicas – mas para equipes menores, a gente tem que fazer de tudo. Portanto existem ferramentas, chamadas de ferramentas de autoria. Então, você não está desamparado.
Por fim, o designer instrucional deverá avaliar o conteúdo criado, avaliando os resultados. Ele vai olhar o engajamento dos alunos, a performance deles, se o conteúdo foi efetivo, se os resultados organizacionais foram alcançados e, claro, implementar as mudanças necessárias.
Vê só? Tem bastante coisa, eu sei. Lembrando que isso é o “idealizado”. Cada empresa vai adaptar os processos, etapas e responsabilidades de acordo com os conhecimentos e recursos à disposição. Vale ressaltar que cada vez mais vemos ferramentas sendo criadas para impulsionar e acelerar vários desses processos. Isso tudo faz com que o designer instrucional possa atuar mais na frente, criando mesmo os conteúdos, ou mais na estratégia, planejando e avaliando os resultados da implementação.
